Public health is “the science and art of preventing disease”, prolonging life and improving quality of life through organized efforts and informed choices of society, organizations (public and private), communities and individuals. Public health aims to improve the quality of life through prevention and treatment of disease, including mental health.

Social science is the branch of science devoted to the study of societies and the relationships among individuals within those societies. It encompasses a wide array of academic disciplines, including anthropology, archaeology, economics, human geography, linguistics, management science, media studies, political science, psychology, and social history.
